Panel Discussion- Drafting Copyright, IP, Entertainment Business Documents-

Moderator: Bill Hart , a well-known NYC copyright lawyer and adjunct professor currently teaching an IP/Copyright Drafting Course at UTLAW, has organized a panel of industry professionals to discuss real world drafting issues in copyright, trademark and right of publicity licensing, confidentiality agreements, industry “best practices” and the negotiating points and drafting challenges associated with many commonly used provisions. Panelists include:

* Heather Liberman- General Counsel of SXSW. Heather Liberman is General Counsel for South by Southwest (SXSW). Prior to her current role, Heather was an Associate at Leavens, Strand & Glover, an entertainment / IP boutique firm in Chicago, Illinois. Heather was a professional dancer in her past life and is a proud parent of two corgis.

* Emilio Nicolas- partner, Jackson Walker L.L.P. and Chair of the firm’s Entertainment Law group. His practice includes entertainment, media, technology, and intellectual property litigation and transactional work, with a particular emphasis on copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy, and free speech. He has been named a “Rising Star” by Thomson Reuter and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the ABA IP Litigation Committee, and a past Trustee of the Copyright Society of the USA.

* Jerry L. Dasti –partner, Sloss Eckhouse LawCo LLP. Jerry advises clients on a wide variety of film and television industry matters, with a particular emphasis on advising and representing filmmakers, producers and production companies in all phases of the development and production process. His practice regularly involves intellectual property issues. Mr. Dasti is a graduate of American University (BA, 1997, magna cum laude) and New York University School of Law (JD, 2002), where he was an Executive Editor of the NYU Law Review.
