    Ace Your Legal Interviews

    Join us for this interactive program designed to prepare you to ace every interview. You will identify your unique professional strengths and practice putting those strengths in the most favorable light to ensure your best chance at getting a job offer. You will leave the program with confidence in your ability to both prepare for and nail every interview. Lunch will be served.

    Mock Interview Program for 1Ls

    Each spring the CSO hosts the Mock Interview Program for 1Ls (as well as 2Ls & 3Ls if space permits) to practice interviewing with actual attorneys. Mock interviews provide students with valuable interviewing experience and offer attorneys an opportunity to meet our exceptional students and introduce these students to the legal interviewing process.

    Mock interviews will be 20-minutes in length followed by a 10-minute review. Dress professionally as you would for a real interview on the day of your mock interview.

    To prepare for your upcoming interviews, please watch the Preparing for Legal Interviews in Five Steps video (9:01 minutes) or review the Five Steps brochure (PDF) and be sure you have completed your Interview Preparation Worksheet (Word).

    Akin Gump Pro Bono Scholar Info Session

    Learn about pro bono at large law firms and Akin Gump’s 2019 Pro Bono Scholars Program. The Akin Gump Summer Pro Bono Scholars Program provides top first-year law students interested in law firm practice the opportunity to develop an early expertise in public interest law. The skills acquired during this program build a foundation for pro bono work and billable practice that will serve participants throughout their careers. The program spans two summers, with the Pro Bono Scholars working both at the firm and at a public interest organization during the first summer as rising 2Ls. The next summer as a rising 3L, the Pro Bono Scholars join the firm as participants in the firm’s general summer associate program. In 2019, the Pro Bono Scholars Program will be offered in their Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. offices.

    Panelists include Texas Law alums Daniel GraverRoxanne Tizravesh, and Lauren York.

    One-on-one meetings will be held after the program. You may sign up via Events on Symplicity.

    Lunch will be served. RSVP by Wednesday, January 23 on Symplicity by selecting the "Events" tab.

    Dean Bangs and Brandi Welch will discuss how to approach your second semester. Whether you were satisfied with your performance on exams or not, there are a few strategies all law students may attempt to better performance in the Spring. We'll also discuss how to approach professors with questions about exam answers. Pizza lunch will be served!
