Article I, Sec. 1 of the Texas Constitution declares the importance of “preserv[ing] the right of local self-government.” While this provision ostensibly refers to local self-government in the state vs. federal context, can Texas cities invoke this and other legal principles to defend local ordinances from superseding acts by the Texas legislature?

Join the ACS Austin Lawyer Chapter and the ACS University of Texas School of Law Student Chapter for a discussion with the Hon. Gina Hinojosa on wins and losses in recent local control battles in cities across Texas.

    Featuring:

Talk to women who have traveled the path ahead of you? Be more confident advocating for yourself and your clients? Please join the Texas Law Advocacy Program for our first Women Advocating For event. Our goal is to create an afternoon where you, our students, can ask questions, share experiences and feel supported by sharing with women lawyers who have walked the path ahead of you. We will share some time together as one whole group and then break into small group discussions.
