Getting Radical In The South Conference

TNH 2.114 (Francis Auditorium)

Getting Radical in the South (GRITS) is an annual multi-day conference that brings together members of the entire University of Texas community, students throughout the South, and professionals working in advocacy spaces. Our conference is intended to foster an environment on the University of Texas campus, specifically within Texas Law, that explores and promotes radical advocacy in the South. The conference consists of various speakers and workshops that are aimed at helping students around the country learn about various social justice issues affecting the South, while also equipping them with the tools and skills that will help them to become more impactful advocates. In Spring of 2020, the conference will have several individual speakers and panels discussing topics such as sex work, unions, criminal justice, and more. Overall, the event will be an opportunity for students across UT and across the South to learn what legal social justice advocacy means and how they can be the most effective community lawyers.

Assault & Flattery Show - "Scalia Mia: May He Rise Again"

Utopia Theatre at the UT School of Social Work

“…Here We Go Again.” The choice between Big Law, Public Interest, or a Judicial summer is a daunting one for all 1Ls. But even more so for our gunner protagonist, Sophie, as she discovers that each of those paths might lead her to her real father! Come laugh with us as we watch Sophie twist and turn her way through the perils of planning her 1L summer, finding her true parentage, and handling all the absurdity that comes her way in Assault & Flattery’s 2020 Parody Musical: “Scalia Mia: May He Rise Again!” (Based on Mamma Mia!, duh).

Enjoy a night of irreverance, absurdity, and mediocre singing (hey, we’re law students, not broadway stars, give us a break) for ONE WEEKEND ONLY!

Tickets available in the Law School Atrium or on assaultandflattery.com
