    Please join us Wednesday, September 8 from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M. for a virtual 1L welcome event and learn what the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law (TJOGEL) Society is all about. The TJOGEL Society provides members with exclusive networking opportunities with top law firms, direct access to leading attorneys, a fun, social community of fellow law students, and breakfast tacos every Tuesday (when in-person). The Society does not require a knowledge of oil, gas, and energy and has no minimum time requirement.     Student Organizations Fair

    The Student Organizations Fair is hosted by the Student Bar Association and provides a great opportunity for law students to gain exposure to the wide array of student-run organizations offered at Texas Law! This event is designed to provide a space for students to connect and find their niche within the law school.

    The 2020-2021 Student Organizations Fair will be facilitated through Guidebook (the same platform used for the Freshlaw Orientation). There will be scheduled "events" for each organization from 11:30-2:30. Once you select an organization, there will be a link to guide you to their Zoom room. Each organization will have representatives available to answer questions and provide insight on their organization.

    There is no order in which you need to navigate through the various "events"/ links. Please, feel free to "hop in and out" of each organization's Zoom room at your leisure.

    U.S Army JAG Info Session

    All Texas Law students are welcome to learn more about the U.S. Army JAG program from Captain Levinia Lara, Field Screening Officer, who will answer questions about the Army JAG program, including summer internship and postgraduate opportunities. Judge Advocates are military attorneys responsible for offering legal support that involves military operations. They primarily focus on the areas of criminal law, legal assistance, civil/administrative law, labor/employment law, international/operational law, intelligence law, and contract/fiscal law.

    Solidarity and Labor Challenges in Texas

    The Texas Law American Constitution Society is hosting a Labor Day panel discussion with leaders in the labor movement in Texas about the legal landscape facing unions during the pandemic and moving forward. Speakers include: Professor Bill Beardall, Director of the Transnational Worker Rights Clinic at Texas Law and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Center; Rene Lara, Legislative Director of the Texas AFL-CIO; and Mike Murphy, General Counsel of the IBEW Local 520.
