    TJOGEL Roundtable Luncheon

    The Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law will host a law firm for a roundtable lunch with interested TJOGEL Society members. At the roundtables, partners and associates visiting from the law firms will present on a wide variety of energy law topics for the first part of the lunch. Then, TJOGEL Society members will have the opportunity to ask questions about the presentation. Finally, at 12:40-12:45pm, we will go from JON 5.206 to the Patman Family Plaza courtyard outside to give out lunches to the lawyers and student attendees. Students and the visiting lawyers can eat lunch and network.

    There is a limited number of spots for each Roundtable Luncheon. To sign up to attend a Roundtable, please sign up for the TJOGEL Society and look for an RSVP form about a week before the Roundtable Luncheon that you want to attend.

    Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain

    On Tuesday, February 8, the Strauss Center is pleased to welcome Sina Kian, a Strauss Technology, Security, and Global Affairs Fellow and UT Austin Adjunct Professor, for a talk on “Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain: What are they and how can lawyers get involved?” This will be a discussion with Professor Kian, VP of Strategy at blockchain startup Aleo and former law clerk to Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts. The talk will be moderated by Strauss’ Deputy Director Adam Klein.

    The event sponsors follow the University of Texas’s public health related policies. There is an inherent risk of exposure to viruses and other health threats in any public space.     Careers in National Security Law

    On Thursday, February 10, Professors Bobby Chesney and Adam Klein will discuss “Careers in National Security Law: Five Things You Need to Know.” Professors Chesney and Klein will talk about careers in national security and answer students’ questions in an informal format. They’ll also unveil the Strauss Center’s new National Security Law Student Fellows program, which will provide credentials, networking opportunities, and career support to UT Law students.

    Texas Law Prom 2022: Night of Hollywood Glamor

    Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 7:00-11:00PM

    Tickets are $55 and will be available for purchase on February 1, 2020 at 8:00AM.

    Texas Law students are our primary priority. Therefore, ticket availability is limited, due to the ongoing pandemic. Student tickets will be available for 48 hours and at the conclusion of student ticket sales, all remaining tickets will be available to purchase for plus-one guests.

    All students and guests must provide a negative covid test, time stamped within 48 hours of the event, and your test must be shown at the law prom check-in to obtain entry. We encourage all guests who are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 to remain at home. If you purchase a ticket and test positive, guest tickets may be refunded at the conclusion of guest’s quarantine, with proof of a positive test. All other ticket refunds are prohibited. You can find easily accessible on and off campus testing facilities for you and your plus ones here.

    TJOGEL-Blackland CDC Volunteer Event

    TJOGEL is proud to partner with Blackland Community Development Corporation for an important and impactful volunteer event on Saturday, February 19 starting at 10:00am and lasting until around 1:30pm.

    All TJOGEL Society members are highly encouraged to attend the event: we need as many people as possible! Located at 1902 E 22nd St, Austin, TX 78722, Blackland CDC is a non-profit community development organization that provides affordable housing in the historic Blackland neighborhood just east of the University. We will be doing a neighborhood cleanup of Blackland CDC's homes, parks, and gardens. Food and drinks will be served to those who attend. More information will be sent to TJOGEL Society members.
