Each year, the CSO hosts the private sector Mock Interview Program. This program aims to introduce our students to the legal interviewing process and affords attorneys an opportunity to meet our exceptional students. Practice interviews and attorney feedback are invaluable to our students, preparing them technically and instilling confidence as they embark on their 1L interview season. Depending on availability, 2L and 3Ls may also participate in this program.

Each mock interview will be 20-minutes in length followed by a 10-minute review.

The initial sign up period for 1Ls opens at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, and closes at noon on Wednesday, October 26. If spots are still available you will be able to sign up for third mock interview from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 27.

First-year law students who participated in Thriving in Law School during orientation are invited to wear their THRIVING shirts, stop by the Tom Clark Lounge to grab a treat, and enter to win a prize. We'll be collaborating with Dr. Maria Timm, Law School CARE Counselor, who will be there to offer support around stress and navigating law school.

Texas Talks serves as a chance for 1Ls to connect with a variety of law firms to learn more about their organization and the practice of law. All Texas Law 1Ls are encouraged to stop by the Law School Atrium from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (November 2-4, 2022) to connect with attorneys and recruiting coordinators.

Join the TJOGEL Society for a Roundtable Lunch with partners and associates from national law firms. Please RSVP via a form that will be sent out about a week before each Roundtable to TJOGEL Society Members.

A panel featuring Professors Sager, Laycock, and Collis discussing the current state and future of religious liberty jurisprudence.

Join us at 12 pm CT on November 3 for a timely discussion with Liz Avore of the Voting Rights Lab. Ms. Avore will discuss her pathway to advocating for better voting laws and highlight current legislative efforts to address voting rights. Mimi Marziani, President of the Texas Civil Rights Project, will moderate this discussion.

Come join us Thursday from 12:30-1:30pm in the Jury Room (CCJ 2.310) for an hour of community and Bible study. Feel free to drop in as you're able. We welcome all women regardless of faith background!

OUTLaw hosts diverse attorneys from sponsoring big law firms to discuss their experiences in big law, the recruiting process, work-life balance, how to build a community as diverse individuals in big law, and their work in advocacy, pro bono, and community engagement. A 45-minute Q&A panel will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. All members of OUTLaw are invited.

“We Are Not Slaves”: A book talk and panel discussion Thursday, November 3, 5-6:30 pm, Sheffield Room

Author Robert Chase will discuss his book “We Are Not Slaves,” a history of the prisoners’ rights movement in Texas in the second half of the 20th century. Professor Talitha LeFlouria (History) will introduce Chase and his work. Following Chase’s talk, Professor Michele Deitch (LBJ/Law) will lead a panel discussion with local advocates focused on current prison labor practices and the “end the exception” movement.
