    Climate Change & Forced Migration

    On Tuesday, January 17, the Strauss Center hosts Amali Tower, Founder and Executive Director of Climate Refugees, for a talk on “Living in a Changing Climate: Dynamics of Forced Migration & Displacement.” This talk will be held at the LBJ School of Public Affairs as part of the Strauss Center’s Brumley Speaker Series.

    In her talk, Amali will share her expertise in refugee and migration issues, discussing the impact of climate change on human movement across the globe.

    Attention! • Are you a 1L or 2L who is looking for a summer job involving human rights or social justice? • Do you have a summer placement at a human rights organization, but need to find external funding?

    Come to the Rapoport Center’s "Finding and Funding" Human Rights Jobs: Info Session on January 18! Rapoport Center staff and former Rapoport Center Summer Fellows will give tips and tricks on finding human rights positions before the summer. The session will also outline the application process for the Rapoport Center’s Summer Fellowship Funding, including the Letelier and Moffitt Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Law and the Charles Moyer Human Rights Fellowship (application deadline March 13, 2023).

    Clerkship Applications - Getting Started

    Join the Judicial Clerkship Program for a catch-up introductory session on Judicial Clerkships. We'll introduce you to the resources and support available to apply to judicial clerkships as well as detailed instructions on how to begin the application process for 2024-term clerkship positions. For 2Ls who did not attend this program during the Fall 2022 semester ONLY.

    A Conversation with Kristen Silverberg

    Join us on 1/19/23 to hear Ambassador Kristen Silverberg, COO of the Business Roundtable, discuss her legal and professional career and the ethical standards and challenges of a lawyer in public service. Ambassador Silverberg’s career includes federal appellate and Supreme Court clerkships, senior White House positions, and service as the Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs and Ambassador to the United Nations. Ambassador Silverberg will discuss the varied roles of her career and the ethical obligations required to perform the duties of these roles and maintain the trust of judges, clients, and government leaders. Center for Women in Law Executive Director, Veronica Vargas Stidvent, will moderate this discussion.
