You should come away with an understanding of how a law firm operates as a business and the implications of that business model for attorneys of the firm. This candid and informative discussion is important for law students planning to work in a private law firm to understand the business of law. The program is open to all class years. GRITS is a student-run, public interest law conference that focuses on the difficulties and constraints inherent to social justice work in the South, and the unique strategies that legal practitioners and other public interest workers have developed to meet those needs.

The conference emphasizes innovative, progressive, and even radical approaches to building community among students, practitioners, and community activists in the South to bring about social change.

The conference is an opportunity for law students, lawyers, and activists to build coalitions, share strategies for progressive lawyering, and develop new approaches for the future.

This is TIPLJ’s annual Symposium. During the event, we will discuss ongoing/emerging topics of interest within Intellectual Property law. Several of the topics will provide CLE credit. This year's topic is "The Cost of Innovation" and focuses on different costs associated with building, maintaining, and enforcing an IP portfolio. We will also discuss ways to monetize IP.
