Coffee Discussion

Join the Strauss Center for International Security and Law for an afternoon coffee with DC-based attorney and Texas Law Professor Molly Claflin to kick off the new Program on Federal Government and Washington, DC Lawyering. The coffee will be moderated by Professor Brian Pérez-Daple, who leads the the new program, designed to give students the mentorship, connections, and practical guidance they need to pursue opportunities with federal agencies, the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, Congress, and leading Washington, DC law firms. At the kick-off event, students will have the opportunity to hear from experts about lawyering in the federal government and DC, and meet mentors involved in the program.

Molly Claflin is a DC-based attorney and Texas Law professor working at the intersection of law, crisis communications, and public policy. She brings experience managing high-stakes investigations for the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and a major international law firm. She will share insights on practicing law in Washington, navigating careers across government and the private sector, and building a career in the nation’s capital. Her Texas Law course, “Government Investigations,” examines the constitutional and legal framework governing governmental investigations.
