    Judicial Internships

    This program provides information about judicial internships during school term, in either the fall or spring. Even if you attended the previous panel on summer judicial internships, we encourage you to take advantage of this program to visit directly with judges and judicial staff over lunch about what interns do in their courts and why judicial internships are valuable. Attendees includes the Honorable Lee Yeakel and his staff attorney Kathryn Baffes, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas; the Honorable Christopher Mott and his staff attorney Sarah McHaney, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas; Administrative Law Judges Tommy Broyles and Craig Bennett, State Office of Administrative Hearings; Martha Newton, Liz Kozlow, and Jason Nichols, staff attorneys, Supreme Court of Texas; and Anna Dowe, staff attorney, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

    Join Professor Philip Postlewaite, the Director of the Tax Program at Northwestern University School of Law, to learn more about Northwestern's LL.M. in Taxation Program in Chicago, Illinois. The presentation is open to all students interested in pursuing the LL.M. degree on either a full-time or part-time basis following graduation.

    Patton Boggs Fellowship Deadline

    The Patton Boggs Foundation is pleased to contribute a fellowship worth $5,000 to support a UT Law student who has completed either his/her first or second year of law school and will be working on public policy and related matters for a government agency, international organization or nonprofit public interest organization. A preference will be given to veterans of the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars and students pursuing public service opportunities with organizations focused on business-related public policy issues, including economic development, banking, finance, community development, property and tax.

    To apply for the Fellowship, please provide a copy of your resume and a statement of interest detailing: what organization you will be working for; the type of work you anticipate you will be doing this summer; and the length of your internship; e.g., ten weeks; and whether the internship is paid/funded. Also include a list of other funding opportunities that you've applied for this summer. Applications should be submitted to Nicole Simmons, Public Interest Career Counselor, at nsimmons@law.utexas.edu by Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

    Texas Legislative Council Info Session

    1L Etiquette Dinner

    Learn the finer points of business dining and protocol over a three-course seated dinner. This free 1L Etiquette Dinner is generously sponsored by Locke Lord who will be hosting a cocktail reception prior to dinner from 6:15-7:00 p.m. for the 1Ls attending. All guests should be seated for dinner promptly by 7:00 p.m.
