    Learn about practicing law for a union legal department, a workers’ rights center, a law firm representing unions and workers, and a government agency regulating the workplace. Find out how to get a job promoting workplace justice. In addition, learn about the Peggy Browning Fund Fellowship Program, which offers 10-week funded summer fellowships for first and second-year law students, provides stipends to law students who dedicate their summer to advancing the cause of workers’ rights, and encourages law students to consider labor law as a viable career choice.     Career Exploration: Health Law

    The Health Law & Bioethics Society invites all UT Law students interested in the practice of health care law to hear about the practice from the following panelists: Steve Aragon, ’88, Chief Legal Counsel, Texas Health and Human Services Commission; Carla Cox, ’76, Partner at Jackson Walker L.L.P. (Austin); Beth Devery, Director of the Health Services Division of Travis County; Penny Hobbs, Partner at McGinnis Lochridge (Austin); and Lee Spangler, Vice President of Medical Economics at the Texas Medical Association and former Associate General Counsel/outgoing Chair of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

    Speed Networking

    Sign-up at 9:00 p.m. on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8 is on a first-come, first-served basis on UT Law Symplicity . Back by popular demand! Participating UT Law J.D. students will have the opportunity to network one-on-one with legal professionals from a variety of practice areas, as well as fellow students, during several short (8-10 minutes) speed networking rounds prior to Cocktails & Conversation. We request that students commit to attend the entire speed networking portion of the event. Please arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. Free parking available in the Museum Garage.
