    Back by popular demand! Participating Texas Law J.D. students will have the opportunity to network one-on-one with legal professionals from a variety of practice areas during several short (8-10 minutes) speed networking rounds prior to Cocktails & Conversation at 6:00 p.m. We request that students commit to attend the entire speed networking portion of the event.     Lives in the Law: Julia Gordon

    Attorney Julia Gordon is the Director of Housing Finance and Policy at the Center for American Progress, an independent nonpartisan educational institute. She has also worked at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, focusing on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac policies on mortgage servicing, and as senior policy counsel at the Center for Responsible Lending. Previously she worked on legal aid policy at the Center for Law and Social Policy and as a litigator at WilmerHale.

    11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in the Eidman Courtroom and 12:45-1:45 p.m. in the Jury Room.

    Gordon will speak from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. about the her work at CAP on stabilizing the housing market and shaping the future of housing finance, with a special focus on Texas. From 12:45-1:45 p.m., she’ll speak more informally with students in the Jury Room about her life in the law. Attend one or both sessions. Lunch served at 12:45.

    Judicial Internships

    Learn what judicial internships are, what courts have them, and how to apply. Summer judicial internships are open to all students, including 1Ls. There are hundreds of summer judicial internship opportunities available throughout the nation and early December is a good time to begin sending out your applications. Three hours of academic credit is available through the Judicial Internship Program for internships with certain federal district, federal appellate, or state appellate judges.

    The following Texas Law students will discuss their summer judicial internship experiences and how they secured their positions: Brytne Kitchin, 3L, former intern for Justice Jeff Brown of the Supreme Court of Texas; Stephanie Abiassi, 2L, former intern for Chief Justice Ann McClure of the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals; Daniella Martinez, 2L, former intern for Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas; and Jonathan Seliger, 2L, former intern for Judge Patrick Higginbotham of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

    FBI Info Session

    Three recruiters from the FBI will provide information about the Special Agent, Mission Support Analyst and other positions or internships within the FBI.     PDI Registration Opens

    The Professional Development Institute: Prepared For Practice will be taught by industry experts and practicing attorneys, covering facets of new attorney professionalism most sought after by legal employers. It is promoted widely to employers, many of whom contributed to the content of this program. This program is open to all UT Law J.D. students.

    Registration opens on Tuesday, November 18, at 9:00 p.m. Space is limited!

    Law Firm Track will be held on Thursdays, January 22-February 26, 2015 from noon-1:00 p.m. in the Francis Auditorium. Lunch service will begin at 11:40 a.m. so the sessions may start promptly at noon.

    Public Service Track will be on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in the Susman Academic Center. Lunch will be served.
