    Your Summer Nonprofit / Govt. Position

    Working for a nonprofit or government agency this summer? This session will prepare you to thrive and get the most out of your summer work experience. Professor Scott McCown will present legal ethics basics and 2Ls and 3Ls familiar with nonprofit and government settings will discuss how to handle opportunities and challenges that come up in these unique work environments, including receiving great work and supervision, and steering clear of ethical pitfalls.

    Part of the Texas Law Professional Development Institute: Prepared for Public Service Practice series. Sponsored by the Career Services Office, the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law, and the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice.

    Public Interest Postgraduate Fellowships

    Learn about some of the more popular project-based fellowships obtained by Texas Law graduates. You’ll learn about the application process and strategies for putting together a competitive fellowship application. Panelists include Anya Morgan, 3L and 2017 Julius Glickman Fellow in Public Interest Law with the Northwest Justice Project; Briana Perez, 3L and 2017 Rollie White Trust Fellow in Public Interest Law with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF); Cristian Sanchez, 3L and 2017 Equal Justice Works Fellow with RAICES; and Meredith Parekh ’11, Staff Attorney with Disability Rights Texas and former Skadden Foundation Fellow. Moderated by Nicole Simmons, Director of Public Service Programs, Career Services Office. The Soros Justice Fellowship will also be discussed.
