Participating in the Capital Punishment Clinic was a life-altering experience.  It changed my perspective about our criminal justice system and the role of an attorney as a client advocate.  Professor Marcus and the other members of the Clinic are not only fantastic attorneys who are passionate about their work; they are dedicated to helping students develop into more effective, well-rounded attorneys.  I always felt that I was given meaningful work and independent responsibility.  Of all my experiences in law school, the Clinic was the most useful to me during my clerkships and in my practice.  The clinic helped me develop my investigative and writing skills and afforded me the opportunity to interact directly with clients and witnesses.  I was given opportunities that would not have had anywhere else, including helping to draft and edit briefing for the U.S. Supreme Court and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
