Information for the Public

Texas Law clinics accept only a small number of cases and do not provide advice to persons other than clients.  Most clinics accept cases strictly through referrals from nonprofit organizations or by court appointment.  A few clinics accept a limited number of cases in response to requests for assistance from individuals, community groups and other entities.

If you have a legal matter and would like to see how our clinics accept cases, check the web page for the clinic most relevant to your situation.

If the relevant clinic does not accept cases in response to requests from the public, or if you have a type of legal matter that is not addressed by any of our clinics, we cannot assist you. The Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program does not accept requests for help directly from individuals.  You may wish to contact the following organizations for assistance:

Texas Law Help

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid

Volunteer Legal Services

Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas

State Bar of Texas Lawyer Referral Service
