Description
The course provides a comparative survey of various legal systems including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, South Africa and the United States. Following an introduction to comparative methodology and the function of comparative law in the legislative and judicial spheres, the course focuses on a shortlist of specific issues. These include the legislative process, the function of second chambers, the separation of powers, electoral systems, federalism, judicial review, and the protection of human rights.Instructors
