Description
This course will take a practical approach to criminal law and the unique ethics issues that surround it. We will look at prosecutorial ethics including the use and abuse of prosecutorial discretion and discovery obligations in criminal cases. We will also examine the professional responsibilities of defense lawyers including making a good record for appeal and ineffective assistance of counsel. Some of the areas we will discuss include representation of the mentally ill defendant, issues involving the death penalty and domestic violence cases.Textbooks ( * denotes required )
