Description
Same as LAW 279M, Topic: Supreme Court.
An opportunity Supreme Court is a two-credit course on undecided cases currently before the Supreme Court, taught in the congeniality of a small discussion group. It is possible that it will be taught remotely.
Features. This course offers an introduction to interesting areas of federal law, exposure to some of the Court's more important current cases, and timely acquaintance with professional materials of national importance.
Grading. This course is free of a formal examination and free of any formal paper requirement. Evaluation is based on two required memoranda, preparedness in class, and participation.
Options and requirements. Because most of our cases are new to the course each time it is offered, depending on the Supreme Court's current docket, this course may be taken repeatedly. To avoid duplication of particular undecided cases it is advisable to wait one semester before taking the course again. This course is closed to anyone who has not completed the first year in an American law school. Otherwise, within enrollment limits, it is open to all upper-class first-comers.
