Description
This course will focus on the writing you'll do in direct service and impact-based public interest work. Documents to be produced, edited, and/or studied may include client declarations, trial and appellate briefs, and more. Students will learn about storytelling and writing persuasively for the various audiences a public interest attorney will encounter, including clients, agency officials, trial and appellate judges, and the public. Through peer-editing, students will become more empathetic writers and more skilled self-editors.
This 2-credit class meets once each week. There is no midterm or final exam. In-class engagement is required. It will be graded Pass/Fail.
