Description
The seminar will focus primarily on the legal issues surrounding commercial wind energy development. These include federal and state governmental incentives for wind-generated electricity; regulations dealing with the location of wind farms; acquisition and content of wind leases; issues, such as claims of nuisance and environmental problems, that arise from the location of wind farms; "property" issues, such as severance of wind rights from all other ownership rights; transmission of wind-generated electricity, and marketing.The seminar will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00pm to 2:50pm.
Every student will be required to write a paper on a topic that has been approved by the professor and to discuss a draft of the paper during a portion of one class period.
