Paul R. Gugliuzza

Paul Gugliuzza is an award-winning scholar and teacher in the fields of civil procedure and intellectual property law. An expert on patent law and patent litigation, his recent work has appeared in the Duke Law Journal, Stanford Law Review, University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and New England Journal of Medicine, among other leading journals.

Professor Gugliuzza has testified before both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, and his scholarship has been cited in over twenty judicial opinions. His article, “The Federal Circuit as a Federal Court,” received the annual best article award from the Federal Courts Section of the Association of American Law Schools. Professor Gugliuzza’s commentary and writing have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Slate, Talking Points Memo, Bloomberg, and many other news outlets.

Professor Gugliuzza graduated summa cum laude from Tulane University School of Law. After law school, he clerked for Judge Ronald Gould on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and practiced in the Issues and Appeals group at Jones Day in Washington, D.C. Before coming to UT, Professor Gugliuzza was the James E. Beasley Professor of Law at Temple University Beasley School of Law, as well as Professor of Law at Boston University School of Law, where he received the Dean’s Award in recognition of his teaching.
