Request Assistance

Pro bono students working with client at an Expunction opportunity.
Student volunteers meet with a member of the public seeking legal assistance during a pro bono opportunity to expunge or seal criminal records.

Each year, volunteer law students partner with various community organizations and attorneys to provide free services on a wide variety of topics. Usually the services are provided through a “workshop” held on a particular day and with a focus on some particular type of legal matter. Recent examples include workshops on drafting a will, recovery of a driver’s license, pursuit of special education rights, applications for parole, expunction of criminal records, and protection of veterans’ rights.

For members of the public who hope to receive assistance from our students during such a workshop, we have application forms we ask you to fill out.  This helps us ensure that your situation is one that our students can help address, and it also helps us manage the volume of requests for help from our students.  Please note that filling out such a form is not a guarantee that our students will be able to provide services to you.

Based on our current understanding of student interest, we expect there to be workshops in the Spring of 2025 during which students will provide services on these topics:

alternatives to guardianship

driver license recovery

expungement and sealing of criminal records

preparation of wills

special education rights

If you would like to apply to receive student assistance as to one of those topics, please click on that link. It will take you to an application form for you to fill out.  We will be in touch after that to let you know if you have been accepted for participation in that workshop.
