Students will be trained by the Austin Lawyers Guild to serve as legal observers during protests and public demonstrations. Legal observers watch and document interactions between law enforcement officials and individuals participating in demonstrations.

National Lawyers Guild
The Austin Lawyers Guild is a local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG). The NLG is the nation’s oldest and largest progressive bar association and was the first one in the nation to be racially integrated. NLG’s mission is to use the law for the people, uniting lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers to function as an effective force in the service of the people by valuing human rights and the rights of ecosystems over property interests.
