Students will work with Texas Defender Service lawyers for a week over winter break. Students will edit and write sample motions for the Texas Defender Service motions bank, which will be distributed to capital defense teams across the state. The work will involve updating some motions and drafting others from scratch. The legal research and writing will include topics related to criminal procedure as well as death penalty-specific Eighth Amendment law.
