Texas Law Trans Name and Gender Marker Project

Students will meet with transgender individuals who are seeking to legally change their name and gender marker on basic forms of identification. Students will collect information and documents from individuals and explain the name and gender marker change process. After the intake session, students will draft the petition and order for name and gender marker change from a template with instructions. Students also will be invited to participate as volunteers at the exit session (date TBD), where clients will receive petitions, orders, and guidance on their hearings.
