    Public Interest Summer Jobs

    PILA is hosting a public interest summer job panel for 1Ls and 2Ls for students to share their experiences of the day-to-day work in different public interest jobs. We are going to have 4 speakers discuss their experiences in their summer public interest jobs:

    · Kelsey Snapp worked at the National Office of Appleseed in Austin Texas doing policy advocacy

    · Kathryn Olson worked at the Texas ACLU in Austin doing impact litigation work

    · Alec Swafford worked at the Orleans Public Defenders Office in New Orleans doing indigent criminal defense

    · Kimberly Ashworth worked at the Cook County State Attorney’s Office Juvenile Division doing criminal prosecution work

    Please join us to hear about their experiences and ask questions. We will be serving pizza.

    The lunch will take place TOMORROW, Wednesday, November 3, at 11:30am in the Jury Room (next door to the Eidman Courtroom)

    As the fourth speaker in the Rapoport Center's Human Rights Happy Hour Speaker Series, Samera Esmeir will deliver a lecture titled "Temporalities of Struggle: National Liberation Movements and International Strategies of Rule." Esmeir is an assistant professor in the Rhetoric Department at the University of California, Berkeley.
