    Come find us this week in the Atrium or the Tom Clark lounge and help support survivors of domestic violence in the Austin area (you may donate baked goods/snacks for sale or purchase goodies for consumption).

    Thanks to the students at UT Law, we've been able to assist four survivors this semester--let's keep up the good work!

    Postgraduate Public Interest Fellowships

    Career Exploration: Transactional Law

    Learn about careers in transactional law in both the private and public sectors. Panelists will discuss the various career options in transactional law, the market for transactional lawyers, the skills and training that are important, and how to enter the field.     Asian Law Students Association (ALSA) will have the second general meeting featuring Johnathan Stone from the Texas Attorney General's office. Our speaker will discuss advice on legal writing and internship opportunities in the Attorney General's office. UT's public service scholar Meghan Sheffield and director of SAHELI for Asian Families will discuss volunteer and public service opportunities. Dinner will be served.

    Meet the ABA

    Join the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources for a career panel on Environmental, Energy, and Resources Law. Speakers will discuss opportunities in environmental and energy law including careers in non-profit organizations, corporations, government agencies, and law firms.

    The speakers will be Alexandra Dunn of the Association of Clean Water Administrators, Holli Feichko of WR Grace, Jeffery Dennis of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Mary Ellen Ternes of McAfee Taft, and Keith Hopson of Brown McCarroll.     Sister Helen Prejean: Dead Man Walking

    Sister Helen Prejean is a member of the Congregation of Joseph and author of the book, Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States. Sister Helen has been instrumental in sparking national dialogue on the death penalty and helping to shape the Catholic Church’s newly vigorous opposition to state executions. She divides her time between educating citizens about the death penalty and counseling individual death row prisoners. She has accompanied six men to their deaths. Her novel inspired the hit movie, Dead Man Walking, which was nominated for four Academy Awards and won Best Actress.

    AAABA 6th Annual Career Event

    Austin Asian American Bar Association (AAABA) will host their 6th Annual Career Event and Asian Law Studnets Association (ALSA) Mentorship Kickoff Program. This Annual Event "Ten Minute Mentors: An Interactive Introduction to the Practice of Law" begins with an hour of round table discussions featuring a variety of law practices, followed by networking with local and national Asian attorneys and judges.
