Law Week: Food Drive

Throughout law week, SBA is collecting non-perishable food items to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. We are seeking healthy, non-perishable food items with intact, un-opened consumer or commercial and in non-breakable packaging. The items in highest demand are:

• peanut butter, • canned chicken breast or tuna, • canned low sodium vegetables, • canned fruit in its own juice (no sugar added), • dry pinto beans, • brown rice, • non-fat dry milk powder, and • 100% whole grain cereal.

Collection boxes will be located in the Atrium Monday through Thursday.

Scott Hendler presents "Personal Injury Law and International Human Rights: Litigating Toxic Injustices"

Attorney Scott Hendler of Hendler Lyons Flores (Austin) will talk about his experience litigating the 'DBCP' cases, lawsuits against large American corporations on behalf of Central American agricultural workers, in particular on banana plantations, for infertility linked to the use of an insecticide. He will also talk and answer questions about his experience more generally working at the intersection of personal injury, environmental law, labor relations and international human rights, and how one can integrate work in these areas into a thriving private practice. Lunch will be provided.
