For over 25 years, Texas Law Fellowships’ annual Excellence in Public Interest Awards has honored the steadfast commitment of Texas Law students, faculty, staff, and community members within the public interest law field. Please join us on April 8th to recognize the outstanding contributions of our honorees!

Texas Law Fellowships' annual Excellence in Public Interest Awards (EPIA) reception honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the public interest law field. TLF recognizes individuals from four groups: (1) Students; (2) Professors/Faculty; (3) Public Interest Attorneys; (4) Private Attorneys. The event is open to all law students, faculty, staff, and guests of the honorees.

Townes Hall Morning Coffee for all students every Monday morning. Please bring your favorite travel mug from home (we are “going green,” so no paper products will be provided) and enjoy FREE coffee every Monday morning to start off your week on behalf of the Alumni Association. Topics for discussion include:

Wen Fa, an attorney with the Pacific Legal Foundation, drafted the cert petition in a case heard by the Supreme Court of the United States, argued in the Ninth Circuit, published in the William and Mary Bill of Rights Journal, and has appeared in USA Today, the New York Times, Huffington Post, and NPR --- all within five years of graduation. Learn about how PLF defends individual liberty in courts across the United States, including nine wins in its last ten cases before the Supreme Court. As a member of PLF’s hiring committee, Wen will tell you how you can litigate the cases you read about in your casebooks.

Working for a nonprofit or government agency this summer? This session will prepare you to thrive and get the most out of your summer work experience. Panelists will discuss how to handle opportunities and challenges that come up in these unique work environments, including receiving great work and supervision, and steering clear of ethical pitfalls. Through this interactive session, participants will examine the relationship of identity, gender, culture and ethnicity to conflict dynamics. Professionals will explore the role that bias and "us vs. them" thinking has in the way that conflict is constructed, the manner by which parties experience the conflict, and the lens that the conflict resolution professional places on the process. Participants will dive into the concept of shared identities and gain skills needed to transform divisive issues into opportunities for understanding and constructive resolution.
