The True Extent of Executive Power

Please join the Texas Federalist Society for a debate regarding President Trump's aggressive use of presidential power and whether such use exceeds the Founders' original designs. In his new book, Defender in Chief, John Yoo (Emanuel S. Heller Professor of Law; Co-Faculty Director, Korea Law Center; and Director, Public Law & Policy Program, UC Berkeley School of Law) argues that Trump - despite his populism - has become more often the defender rather than the opponent of the original Constitution. In The Living Presidency, Sai Prakash (James Monroe Distinguished Professor of Law and Paul G. Mahoney Research Professor of Law, University of Virginia School of Law) counters that Trump, like many modern Presidents, has violated the Constitution's grant of executive power.

The Brazen link will be available on Symplicity on November 5.

    TJOGEL Roundtable Luncheon

Join TJOGEL and attorneys from Haynes and Boone for an hour of conversation regarding a multitude of topics, from the firm's position in the energy industry to how to be a great summer associate. This is a great networking opportunity, and it provides a chance to ask questions of practicing attorneys in an informal setting. Although these luncheons are primarily for 1Ls who want exposure to the industry, I encourage everyone to attend.

*Must be a member of the TJOGEL society to attend this event.

Mock interviews provide students with valuable interviewing experience and offer attorneys an opportunity to meet our exceptional students and introduce these students to the legal interviewing process.

This year, mock interviews will be held virtually with each interview 20-minutes in length followed by a 10-minute review.
