Back by popular demand! Participating students will have the opportunity to network one-on-one with legal professionals from a variety of practice areas, as well as fellow students, during several short (8-10 minutes) speed networking rounds from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Due to the structure of the program, we request that participants commit to attend the entire speed networking portion of the event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. There will be a reception with hors d’ouevres following the speed networking portion of the event sponsored by Lateral Link. Dress is business casual.

The Texas Young Lawyers Association’s (TYLA) Law Student Outreach Committee will be presenting its job search seminar, "How to Get a Job After Law School: The Unclassified Story," which will give practical advice to students about finding a job. Of note is the seminar’s focus on students who traditionally do not find employment through on-campus interviews. Student attendees will receive a TYLA “Tip Card” that contains advice on networking, interviewing, and building a job search strategy. This program provides information about judicial internships during school term, in either the fall or spring. Even if you attended the previous panel on summer judicial internships, we encourage you to take advantage of this program to visit directly with judges and judicial staff over lunch about what interns do in their courts and why judicial internships are valuable. The Patton Boggs Foundation is pleased to contribute a fellowship worth $5,000 to support a UT Law student who has completed either his/her first or second year of law school and will be working on public policy and related matters for a government agency, international organization or nonprofit public interest organization. A preference will be given to veterans of the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars and students pursuing public service opportunities with organizations focused on business-related public policy issues, including economic development, banking, finance, community development, property and tax.

To apply for the Fellowship, please provide a copy of your resume and a statement of interest detailing: what organization you will be working for; the type of work you anticipate you will be doing this summer; and the length of your internship; e.g., ten weeks; and whether the internship is paid/funded. Also include a list of other funding opportunities that you've applied for this summer.
