    Environment Texas Info Session

We often say America has more problems than we should tolerate and more solutions than we use. Advocates and program directors with Environment America take their skills to tackle some of our greatest challenges, including global warming, access to clean drinking water, air pollution that makes Americans sick, and the fight for 100% renewable energy, all while raising the public profile of some of our most common sense solutions. Environment America, the nation’s leading grassroots field advocacy environmental group, works to protect clean air, clean water and open spaces, and we’re looking for recent law grads to take on these important leadership roles in our organization. Come learn about postgraduate opportunities available with Environment Texas & its affiliates from Sara Smith, Staff Attorney with Environment Texas. Lunch will be served. RSVP by Wednesday, April 13, on Symplicity by selecting the "Events" tab.

  1. 12:30pm 2016-04-18T13:30-05:00
Meet U.S. Army Judge Advocate General

The Law School is hosting a visit by the Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army, Flora Darpino. LTG Darpino's appointment as Judge Advocate General in September 2013 marked the first time that a woman has been selected as the Army's top lawyer. As the Judge Advocate General, she leads over 4,000 judge advocates and civilian attorneys who provide legal services to the Army.

Professor Robert Chesney, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, has arranged a session for her to speak with students interested in the possibility of a JAG career, Army or otherwise, and of course it would be interesting as well for those who don’t plan such a career but nonetheless want a better understanding of military lawyers. We’ll meet for lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m. This will be a casual conversation with Professor Chesney moderating, and he asks that students coming to the lunch bring with them at least one question for LTG Darpino to address.

If you have a partial conflict and would have to show up late or leave early, that is entirely OK. The program is co-sponsored by The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law, the Career Services Office, and the Center for Women in Law.

RSVP by Friday, April 15, on Symplicity by selecting the "Events" tab.
