2022: Clinic students worked closely with Women Enabled International (WEI) and its partners to conduct a needs assessment for Fiji to identify primary barriers that prevent women and young people with disabilities from accessing sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence (GBV) services. This needs assessment included a desk review of relevant laws, policies, surveys, and reports to map barriers experienced by women and young people with disabilities. The students produced a detailed memo summarizing their findings. Students also worked with WEI to identify concrete recommendations for strengthening respect for the sexual and reproductive health and rights and freedom from GBV for women and young people with disabilities in Fiji. With this help from the Human Rights Clinic and others, in 2022 WEI and its partners produced the report “Women and Young People with Disabilities: A needs assessment of sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, and access to essential services.”
