U.S. Attorney Internship Application

The application deadline for the 2025 – 2026 academic is April 7, 2025.

  1. Students must commit to a full year of internship (both fall and spring, excluding the summer).
  2. Students will receive 4 credits, 2 for each term of the internship.
  3. While not required, students may wish to enroll in Advanced Federal Criminal Prosecution, Federal Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Evidence.

To apply, please send a resume, cover letter, and transcript (unofficial is sufficient) to Prof. Susan Klein sklein@law.utexas.edu and to usatxw.staffing@usdoj.gov. There is no additional application form.

If the U.S. Attorney’s Office is interested in you, they will request an interview. You will also have to undergo an FBI background check.

Students interested in the internship should call Prof. Susan Klein at (512) 203-2257 or send her an email.

Note, the DOJ cannot officially accept interns into this program at this time due to President Trump’s hiring freeze.  However, students must still meet the application deadline if they wish to be considered in the likely event the program is reinstated. We expect that will happen shortly, and will release this information as soon as possible.
