You will have the opportunity to learn how to network effectively and practice your skills with attorneys from a variety of practice areas and settings.

Are you interested in possibly pursuing a career in public service? Come learn about law practice in the public sector. Panelists will discuss their experiences as summer interns and staff attorneys with government and public interest organizations across the country.

Learn how the Lawcountability, J.D. online program will help you raise your profile, improve your networking skills, assist you with applying key job search strategies, and connect you with prospective employers. Starting at 12:30 p.m., join the CSO Career Counselors for lunch and discuss the benefits of participating in this innovative and dynamic professional development online program. The 30-minute introductory demo begins at 1:00 p.m.

Nationally recognized author (The Opportunity Maker: Strategies for Inspiring Your Legal Career) and speaker Ari Kaplan will teach you how to navigate recruiting and networking events with confidence and build lasting relationships with mentors as well as future colleagues and clients.

Participating Texas Law students will have the opportunity to network one-on-one with members of the Austin Bar Association from a variety of practice areas during several short (8-10 minutes) speed networking rounds.

Dr. Kate Bender of the Dave Nee Foundation will speak to students about depression, its prevalence in the legal profession, and the availability and effectiveness of treatment. Lunch will be provided.

Rising second- and third-year students and alumni up to one year after graduation are eligible to participate in Fall On-Campus Interviews per employer requests. Online bidding period ends today at noon (Central) on UT Law Symplicity.

Students are invited to attend Diversity Education Weekend, a conference that connects students of diverse backgrounds with members of the legal community to encourage discussion about diversity in law school and in the legal profession. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. with a series of panels providing advice about law school and a legal career to follow. Study Abroad Information Session open to all students With Professors Lauren Fielder and Michael Sturley

Paul Wright, founder of the Human Rights Defense Center and editor of Prison Legal News, and his colleagues at Human Rights Defense Center will speak on first amendment rights of publishers and prisoners. They have litigated a wide variety of censorship and public records cases against prison systems around the country – most recently against Comal county jail and Upshur county jail in Texas.

The library is throwing open its doors so that UT law students can find out more about our services and tour the facility. You’ll get to see the hidden collections and chat with different librarians about all of the resources at your disposal. There will be treats and drawings for prizes at different stations. At the end of your visit, you’ll receive a gift and can enter your name for a grand prize drawing.

For those students who are not seeking an interview and may want to attend the conference workshops and Table Talk only, you may register September 17-October 10, 2014.

The Health Law and Bioethics Society is having its first meeting of the year with Leslie Montalvo, '15, and Michael Hurta, '15, who will be there to talk about their recent summer clerkship experience at Gjerset & Lorenz, a local firm dedicated to the representation of healthcare providers. All students interested in health law and bioethics are welcome. Snacks will be served.

All interested students are invited to stop by and learn about the student-run Action Committee for Career Services. Refreshments will be served.

ommander Williams from the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General will be on campus to discuss internship and career opportunities with the U.S. Navy JAG Corps. Lunch will be served.
