    Zealous Representation and Civility

Does confrontation make you nervous? Worried about dealing with aggressive lawyers?

Join the Board of Advocates Tuesday, March 8, at noon, in TNH 3.124 for a special presentation on Zealous Representation, Civility, and Friendship in an Adversarial Process.

Seasoned trial attorneys and UT Law alums, David Halpern and Jim Rodman, will be giving a slice of life portrayal of their time as trial attorneys, all while you sit back and enjoy a slice or two of complimentary pizza.

Hear from David and Jim on how two adversaries in a wrongful death case became friends and learn how to distinguish zealous advocacy from incivility. They will also discuss a lawyer’s duties to clients, counsel, and the court. Drawing on over 60 years of combined legal experience, David and Jim will offer up practical advice and consider some common courtroom pitfalls.

    ---

David Halpern is Assistant General Counsel for The Texas A&M University System and practices in the areas of Student Affairs, Special Projects, and Litigation. He is also the co-chair of the Editorial Board for the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas for twenty years defending Texas and its employees in suits alleging personal injury, medical malpractice, and employment discrimination.

Jim Rodman is the Principal Attorney at Rodman Law Office, where he practices personal injury law. Jim has now represented plaintiffs for over 18 years and has represented clients in car and truck accidents, medical malpractice, defective products, dog bites, and a host of other cases.
