    Walking in the Shoes of a Jr. Associate

    The Texas Law Professional Development Series is taught by industry experts and practicing attorneys, covering facets of new attorney professionalism most sought after by legal employers. This must-attend program will help you prepare for your summer clerkship or postgraduate job.

    This popular panel of second-, third- and fourth-year associates from four different law firms will share a no-holds-barred perspective on what students can really expect in the workplace. Session takes place from 11:50 a.m.-12:50 p.m.

    Whether you're a 1L preparing for your first summer clerkship or the fall recruiting season, a 2L working to turn your summer clerkship or fellowship into an offer, or a graduating 3L getting a head start on your legal career, the Texas Law Professional Development Institute (PDI), which is presented each Spring, will help you be a more competitive candidate and a better lawyer.

    Federal Appellate Judges Event

    Judges Patrick Bumatay, James Ho and Timothy Tymkovich, federal appellate judges from different circuits – the Ninth, Fifth, and Tenth – will discuss their perspectives on the First Amendment, through the lens of cases they have handled.     Texas Tax Tools for Affordable Housing

    University of Texas School of Architecture's Community and Regional Planning Program invites you to join them on Friday, April 1, from 12:00-1:30pm CDT for a hybrid in-person/online City Forum with Heather K. Way, clinical professor at The University of Texas School of Law and co-director of the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Center.

    In her talk, Professor Way will present on the growing use of two tax tools in Texas that are available through public facility corporations and tax increment financing. Professor Way will share their pitfalls and offer recommendations on how they should be revamped to better serve the affordable housing needs of Texans, provider stronger accountability to taxpayers, and incorporate more equitable practices.

    The talk will be held in-person in Goldsmith Hall, room 3.120. Box lunches will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. The talk will also be streamed via Zoom and YouTube (links below).

    We will hold a memorial service for long-time Texas Law professor Zipporah Wiseman, who passed away early this year.
