Join the Justice Center’s EmPOWERed for Public Interest Initiative for a Mentorship Dinner for public interest law students whose lived experiences intersect with the legal systems they seek to challenge in their careers. For example: students who have themselves or had family members become entangled in the criminal legal system who are interested in public defense work; immigrant students, or students who are the children or family members of immigrants seeking to challenge the immigration system; low-income students seeking to challenge laws and policy that further marginalize poor people such as predatory lending, cash bail, etc.

While this is not necessarily an event meant to pair each student with a mentor, the Justice Center hopes this will be a time for students to meet and form connections with attorneys who have overcome similar challenges. The Mentorship Dinner will be held on Thursday, April 11th, from 6:30-8:30 pm at Qi Austin: Modern Asian Kitchen.

There is no cost to attend this event, however, capacity for this event is limited. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. (CT) on Monday, March 25th. Students will be notified whether they have been selected to attend on Monday, April 1st. Apply here:
