    CSO Open House

    The Career Services Office is hosting an Open House for all students in preparation for Fall On-Campus Interviews. Students are encouraged to stop by the Career Services Interview Suite any time during the day and speak with our career counselors who will be on hand to answer questions and familiarize students with the locations of the interview rooms and the OCI interview process. Free copies of "Chambers Associate: The Student’s Guide to Law Firms" will be available while supplies last.

    Interviewing & Etiquette 101

    New Location! Learn what you need to know to succeed at on-campus interviews. Yolanda Garcia '99, Litigation Partner at Weil, Gotschal & Manges (Dallas) and Morgan Matson, '99, President of Preferred Counsel Legal Placement Services (San Antonio), will discuss how to sell yourself in a 20-minute interview, what employers are looking for in an ideal candidate, common interview questions, and mistakes you should avoid. They will also talk about professional etiquette for receptions, meals, and correspondence, and answer any additional questions you may have. Lunch will be served. Sponsored by Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP.

    Peggy Browning Fund Conf.-Apply by 8/23

    The Peggy Browning Fund's 12th Annual National Law Students Workers' Rights Conference takes place October 15-16, 2010 in Silver Spring, MD. The University of Texas School of Law may nominate students to attend the conference and the Peggy Browning Fund will cover on-site meals and lodging expenses as well as reasonable airfare for one nominated student.

    To be considered for nomination, please submit a brief statement of interest regarding why you want to attend the conference and complete the registration form, available online at http://www.utexas.edu/law/career/temporary/PBFConf2010.doc, and return to Nicole Clark in the CSO at nclark@law.utexas.edu by noon on Monday, August 23, 2010.

    The selection committee will consider such factors as your demonstrated interest in either workers' rights issues or public interest law and whether you have previously attended the conference. If you are selected as a nominee, you will need to submit your registration form to the Peggy Browning fund by Thursday, August 26, 2010 to be considered for funding. Please note that registration and funding is administered on a first-come, first-served basis.

    One travel scholarship may be available to UT Law students. The CSO will notify nominees about available funds once the nominees are selected.

    Texas Attorney General Info Session

    Mark Levy, '01, Bret Fulkerson, and Gabriel Gervey with the Texas Office of the Attorney General will discuss working for the Antitrust Division and the current opportunities available for internships. 2Ls and 3Ls may register for the fall nonprofit/government internship class for credit.
