    Meet with Education Pioneers

    NEW TIME and LOCATION. Elena Espinoza with Education Pioneers will be holding office hours on Monday, October 10, starting at 2:30 p.m. in the LBJ Office of Student and Alumni Programs, which is located on the first floor in Sid Richardson Hall (SRH 3.104).

    Education Pioneers is one of a very select few national organizations developing and infusing top leadership talent broadly into the education sector outside of the classroom. With a mission to identify, train, connect, and inspire a new generation of leaders dedicated to transforming America’s education system to ensure that all students receive a quality education. Education Pioneers has been building a nationwide network of high-potential professionals and supporting them to launch non-teaching education careers since 2003.     Postgraduate Public Interest Fellowships

    Are you a 2L thinking of applying for a postgraduate public interest fellowship? Are you a 3L thinking about applying for one after your judicial clerkship? This panel presentation will address how you should be preparing now to position yourself as a viable candidate for these highly competitive fellowships. Panelists include Ian Spechler ‘07, Staff Attorney with Disability Rights Texas and former Skadden fellow; Adriana Rodriguez ‘11, EJW fellow with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in Laredo; Jordan Pollock ‘12, current 3L fellowship applicant; and Nicole Simmons, Public Interest Career Counselor. Moderated by Mary Crouter, Assistant Director of the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law.

    Additional guests include Meredith Shytles ‘11, Skadden Fellow with Disability Rights Texas, and Michelle Smith ‘11, EJW Fellow with Texas Civil Rights Project.

    Energy Law Career Panel & Reception

    (#CEWenergy) The Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, & Energy Law, in conjunction with the Texas Oil & Gas Law Society and the Career Services Office, will be hosting its annual Energy Law Career Panel. Energy law practitioners from large firms, small firms, and government entities will be discussing careers in energy law, in addition to answering students’ questions.     Polikoff-Gautreaux Fellowship Deadline

    Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI) offers the Polikoff-Gautreaux Fellowship, an exceptional fellowship opportunity for a recent law or public policy graduate. One of the country’s foremost public interest law and policy centers, BPI seeks out and addresses compelling issues of social justice and quality of life in the Chicago region. Currently BPI works to preserve and increase affordable housing, transform public housing, improve Chicago’s public schools, and promote open and honest government in Illinois.

    Fellows receive an attractive salary and benefits (including school loan repayment assistance, based on need). Applications for the 2012 Fellowship are due Friday, October 14, 2011.
