By serving as an attorney ad litem for abused and neglected children through the Children’s Rights Clinic, I was able to gain invaluable experience by practicing law in a real-world setting. This experience allowed me to develop my advocacy skills and a greater understanding of what it means to be an advocate. Conducting interviews, representing clients during hearings, and speaking on behalf of clients during mediations taught me to look at a case from several perspectives. As a 3L who served as both a student and an advanced student, I am confident that my work with the clinic greatly developed the skills that I will use as a litigator – not to mention, I was able to be a part of a great cause.
