Participating in the Criminal Defense Clinic was the best decision I made as a law student. Not only did it give me the opportunity to improve my trial-related skills, the Clinic took me out of the classroom and allowed me to work closely with my clients. The clinic takes this responsibility seriously; my supervisor and I would fine-tune and moot everything to ensure I was prepared to advocate to the best of my ability. The Clinic taught me that everything I do as a public defender, down to the smallest detail, is an opportunity to fight on behalf of my clients. Thanks to the Clinic I’m prepared to start my career with a strong foundation and a good sense of what best practices can and should look like for public defenders regardless of where they practice.
