Approval of the Associate Dean is required to cross-list your course(s). If you are simply looking for increased enrollment or interest from non-Law students in your course, we can discuss potentially advertising your course with another department, without setting up a formal cross-listing.
If you would like to formally cross-list, we will need to know the following information:
- Which graduate department(s) would you like to cross-list?
- Do you have a particular reason for wanting to diversify your enrollment with students from these specific departments? What would these students bring to your course?
Grading Policies for Cross-Listed Sections
Students in cross-listed sections do not adhere to Law School grading policies or deadlines:
- Cross-listed students are not on the curve.
- If you have chosen to restrict the P/F option for Law students, this will not apply to your non-Law students in a cross-listed section. They may take the class on the P/F basis if they so choose.
- All non-Law sections of cross-listed courses have significantly earlier grading deadlines and delayed grades may affect a student’s ability to graduate. For Spring terms, cross-listed grades are due early-May. For Fall terms, cross-listed grades are due mid-December.
Please note that a department you wish to cross-list with may decline the offer for any reason. Some may not have an appropriate course available due to credit hour restraints or they may have policies that preclude cross-listing.
