Registration for upper-division courses at the Law School takes place in two phases. (Students are registered for their 1L courses automatically by the Student Affairs Office.) First, during Early Registration, students rank up to 10 courses and 2 seminars in order of preference. The Early Registration system is not first-come, first-serve. Instead, after the system closes, an algorithm awards classes based on priority (including class year and type of class). Second, students may make adjustments to their schedules during multiple add/drop periods.
Early Registration and Add/Drop dates can be found on the Law School Academic Calendar. Academic advising is available throughout Early Registration to help students select classes, as well as provide guidance on rankings.
Questions about registration may be directed to registration@law.utexas.edu.
