    1Ls: Get a jump start on crafting your legal resume! Stop by the Career Services Interview Suite on Resume Day any time between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to have your questions answered by a CSO career counselor. Please bring your laptop along with a copy of your newly drafted resume.

    Northwestern Tax Law LLM Info Program

    Professor Philip Postlewaite, a tax scholar at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, will explain the benefits of pursuing a LLM Tax degree after earning a juris doctor and how it can assist you with building a tax law career. For students who are considering tax law as a career path, this will be a wonderfully informative session.

    How to Apply to the Orleans PDS

    Will Snowden, supervising attorney at the Orleans Public Defenders (OPD), will briefly describe the work of OPD for students considering a career in public defense. He will also discuss the steps and timeline for applying to OPD for summer jobs and postgraduate employment.

    Postgraduate Public Interest Fellowships

    This program is for all class years: 1Ls trying to figure out what postgraduate public interest fellowships are, 2Ls navigating the summer employer and potential host organization search and 3Ls committed to applying for fellowships post judicial clerkships. Current and former fellows will address how you should be preparing now to position yourself as a viable candidate for these highly competitive fellowships. Panelists include Meredith Parekh ’11, Disability Rights Texas; Karly Jo Dixon ’16, Texas Fair Defense Project; Marissa Latta, 3L; and Mary Crouter, William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law. Moderated by Lawson Konvalinka, Career Services Office.

    Legislative Update on Texas Water Issues

    Ken Kramer, Water Resources Chair of the Sierra Club - Lone Star Chapter, and Chris Mullins, Legislative and Policy Consultant, will be talking about water issues addressed in the 2017 Texas legislative session. Ken has been involved in water legislation in Texas for over thirty years, and Chris recently began working with Ken during this past session. Ken will cover groundwater issues, and Chris will cover surface water issues. Both will be great professional contacts for anyone who hopes to pursue water law or any type of environmentally positive lobbying.
