Professor Linda Mullenix elected to board of directors for new Austin Chapter of the Fulbright Association

Professor Linda Mullenix of the University of Texas School of Law has been elected to the newly-created Board of Directors of the Austin Chapter of the Fulbright Association.

Mullenix, who held a five-month appointment in 2006 as the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Law at the University of Trento in Italy, will serve on the board with other university faculty and Austin Fulbright Association members.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Mullenix taught a comparative course in class action jurisprudence in civil and common law countries. The Fulbright Chair in Law is the only law chair in Italy, and one of few in the field of law.

The board will meet for the first time on Friday, August 27, 2010, before hosting a chapter launch reception at the University’s Littlefield House from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Board members will talk to local Fulbright Association members about their Fulbright experiences and seek ways to incorporate those experiences into future chapter programs.

Established on February 27, 1977, the Fulbright Association is a private, nonprofit organization whose members are Fulbright Program alumni and friends of international education. According to the association’s website, “the association supports and promotes international educational and cultural exchange and the ideal most associated with the Fulbright name: mutual understanding among the peoples of the world.”
