Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law announces its second annual symposium, “The Role of Agents in Entertainment and Sports Law,” March 24, 2011

The University of Texas School of Law’s Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law (TRESL) will sponsor its second annual symposium on Thursday, March 24, 2011.

The symposium is titled “The Role of Agents in Entertainment & Sports” and will be held in the Law School’s Eidman Courtroom from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.  The event is free and open to students, attorneys, and the general public.  Attorneys can also register for 5 hours of CLE credits, including 1.5 hours of ethics credit, by visiting www.tresl.net.

The symposium will address a wide array of legal and business concerns arising out of the relationship between agents and professional talent. The speakers, representing a variety of interests, will discuss the common issues they face and the unique aspects of their work. Two panels will discuss preselected topics and take questions from the audience.

The symposium speakers include: Lawrence Waks, entertainment attorney from Jackson Walker LLP; Bill Stapleton, founder of Capital Sports & Entertainment and chief marketing officer of Livestrong; Josh Luchs, a former sports agent recently profiled in Sports Illustrated; David Caudill, former attorney for Tony Dorsett and current professor at the Villanova School of Law; Brian Jones, former NFL player and current CBS Sports analyst; Michael Cramer, former president of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars and current director of the Texas Program in Sports and Media; Maureen Weston, professor at the Pepperdine School of Law; Bob Boland, sports agent and professor at New York University; and Erin Aldrich, a former multisport Olympian who is planning to open her own athlete management firm.

The symposium has been made possible due to the generous support of the University of Texas School of Law and the Will E. Orgain Lectureship Fund.
