Gary Jacobsohn, Malcolm Macdonald Professor in Constitutional and Comparative Law in the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin, will take part in a colloquium and celebration of his recently published book, Constitutional Identity, on Friday, March 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Sheffield Room at the Law School.
The event is being organized and hosted by Sanford Levinson, W. St. John Garwood and W. St. John Garwood Jr. Centennial Chair at the Law School and professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with comments on Jacobsohn’s book by two guest speakers, Rogers Smith of the University of Pennsylvania and Beau Breslin of Skidmore College. Two seminars on recent work by Smith and Breslin will follow lunch.
Constitutional Identity was published by Harvard University Press in 2010. Ran Hirschl of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law described it as “an important, thought-provoking, comparative work filled with brilliant, original ideas alongside fascinating examples.”
