Panelists will discuss their careers and offer advice on how to land a job as a public defender. Panelists include Genesis Draper ’06, Assistant Federal Public Defender, Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas (Houston) and formerly the Assistant Public Defender, Office of the Metropolitan Public Defender (Nashville, TN), and Aron Israelite ’09, Trial Attorney, Federal Defenders of San Diego Inc. Moderated by Nicole Simmons, Director of Public Service Programs, Career Services Office.

This is the first of a series of meetings for 2Ls and 3Ls who will be applying for 2015-term clerkships. This meeting is geared towards students who will be applying for the most competitive appellate court clerkships, and will focus on preparation for a January/February application period. UT Law Judicial Clerkship Advisors will discuss how to determine what courts you are competitive for, how to select judges, and how and when to apply for clerkships.
